		<description>Who I am
I’m just a boy standing in front of a cinema,
asking it to hire me.&#38;nbsp;
I’m a cinema professional with a lot of years experience working with cinemas, mixed arts venues, theatres,&#38;nbsp; charities, galleries, pop ups and film collectives to find their audiences.
I’ve worked at the Independent Cinema Office in the UK for the last seven years. That’s given me a panorama of what works in cinemas. I also worked at Curzon Cinemas, leading on memberships and CRM. That helped me think practically about what kinds of changes are need to gain and keep audiences.

I’ve lectured internationally – from Bologna to Kyiv – on cinema subjects for organisations like the British Council, Creative Europe and Europa Cinemas.&#38;nbsp;
I’ve worked for indie distributors, set up my own pop up cinema and run a poorly-attended university film society.&#38;nbsp;
The two reasons I care about cinema are films (what people show) and people (who comes to see them). Cinema is the most open art form and almost everyone has a connection to it. My hope in my work is to live up to that promise, so people can see and reimagine their lives and the world from what they see on screen.&#38;nbsp;
My long-term ambition is to start my own cinema in Waltham Forest, London so I can put all I’ve learned into practice. In the meantime, it’s an honour to help other people in their mission.

		<description>How much does it cost?
Probably the most important question to ask, and the main reason people hesitate to get in touch. So that’s why I gave it its own page.&#38;nbsp;
My day rate is £250.
I set it at that level both because that’s what I need to make to have a life and also because that’s the value I feel confident my work provides. I also feel it’s what cultural venues have budget for.&#38;nbsp;
When I quote for a project, I give a detailed sense of how many days will be required, as well as the tasks involved.&#38;nbsp;
There are people who will charge you less (and more!) for the type of work I do, but there’s generally a trade off in terms of quality and supervision needed. If you’re looking for someone who can jump into a job and manage it themselves to completion, that’s me.&#38;nbsp;
There are situations I’m willing to negotiate my day rate for. That’s usually down to if other people are being paid on a project and/or if I think the project is especially interesting or socially useful. If you know the things I like and think it could be a fit, get in touch.&#38;nbsp;⤂Back to home

		<description>Get in touch
The easiest thing to do if you want to talk is email me. &#38;nbsp;
Try to include who you work for and with, how you think we could work together and when you think the work could happen.
I also write a newsletter about cinema. You can read and subscribe to it over here. If you want to commission a piece about cinemas, I’m available for that too.&#38;nbsp;

I’m writing a series of pieces about what a modern cinema could be here.
Some favourite pieces I wrote there...
Why indie cinemas need to drop blockbusters

Can the Q&#38;amp;A be saved?A cinema without advertising
And finally...
I’m on Twitter @NobodyOrderedWolves

		<description>What I doI speak to cinemas about what’s working now and what isn’t with their audiences. Then I come up with a plan to maximise the most of the former and change the latter. I then help deliver the plan.
In my experience, coming up with a strategy and then disappearing isn’t going to help much. So I stick around and help get things on track.
What I help with is as specific as the cinemas themselves, but practically speaking a few things I can help with are…

Writing an audience development strategy and delivering it: this covers all areas of audience development including marketing and targeted outreachCreating and making use of customer relationship management systems to grow audiencesPreparing outreach and marketing strategiesAnalysing current audiences (including surveying, segmenting and focus groups)Faciliating away days to develop vision and purposeBrand development or redevelopment, including tone of voice

If any of this sounds like something that could help you, get in touch and we can work on something that’s right for what you’re up against.&#38;nbsp;
I am also very happy to speak at your event or moderate a panel. I have some thoughts about how to do that best!
